statement

Helen is an artist focusing on color and form by combining representative plant figures and abstract color fields in her paintings. Working in oil on canvas or wood panel, Weinstein’s paintings are distinguished by linear figurative flowers and plant forms created by applying stencils or hand-drawn over subtle areas of colors rich in chromatic and tonal variations. A notable signature of her work is her sophisticated use of color. Weinstein often layers complementary colors which she further works by rubbing, scraping, or drippings. By revealing and concealing underlying colors, she achieves an overall richness and depth in her paintings.
Weinstein lives and works in Miami Beach, Florida, and Greenport, New York. An interior designer by profession while pursuing art, she studied oil painting in New York City at the 92nd Street Y, and at the TriBeCa studio of Diane Green. She formerly studied at the ArtCenter/South Florida under Pablo Contrisciani in Miami Beach. Currently Helen is part of the Peekaboo Studios and Gallery, a 14 artist cooperative on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach.
